What type of stucco mesh or lath works best for Ottawa homes?

The lath or mesh behind your stucco is doing the real structural work — it's the skeleton that holds the cementitious coating to your wall. In Ottawa's climate, where freeze-thaw cycling puts constant stress on exterior finishes, choosing the right reinforcement is critical to long-term performance.

Lath Options for Ottawa Stucco Applications

Expanded metal lath (EML) is the standard for traditional three-coat stucco in Ottawa and across Ontario. It's a sheet of galvanized steel that's been slit and stretched into a diamond pattern.
